About Barbara Bird, “BBird”

Barbara Bird has spent more than fifty years in the grooming profession. She learned the craft through apprenticeship to Tucson legend Bill “Scissorhands” North, and has attended clinics, seminars and training ever since to keep improving and developing her skills.

Barbara is a member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA), the International Society of Canine Cosmetologists (ISCC) and the Arizona Professional Pet Groomers Association (APPGA). She is certified with the NDGAA in Non-Sporting Breeds.

Terriers are a specialty — including Miniature Schnauzers, Wire Haired Terriers, Scotty, West Highland White and Airedales, not forgetting Bedlingtons, Welsh, Irish and Australian. Her scissor work and styling rank among the best in the area, whether traditional breed trims or mixed-breed custom work.

An educator as well as a practitioner. Barbara has written and given seminars for pet groomers in the U.S. and the U.K. Her topics include Cat Grooming, Customer Relations, Groomer Survival, Chemistry for Groomers and Home Grooming. Private lessons are available for professionals and pet owners who wish to groom their own.

At the salon, pets with special needs are catered to in a deliberately low-volume, low-stress operation — and cats are embraced with loving, firm and quite swift handling.
